The Brazilian Maritime Authority and the State of Espirito Santo Port Authority (CODESA) have approved last week an amendment to the Norm for Traffic and Permanence of Vessels in Barra do Riacho Port (Normap 2) and a new Resolution 001, which comprise Portocel operations. The amendment allows Portocel to receive 36-meter beam ships (1 meter wider than previously), thus making it possible to operate with larger ships, increasing its load capacity.
Another major advancement is that the Terminal, as per its own new traffic norms – Resolution 001, now manages its area regulations regarding navigation safety, always aligned with the approval of the agencies in charge, which has resulted in gains regarding ship draft. The measurement of the draft changes from 12.30m to 12.70m in berths 101 and 102, and from 13m to 13.20m in berth 103.
The approval of the new norm is the result of a joint effort involving Portocel and port sector agencies such as the Maritime Authority, Pilotage and Codesa, which measured no efforts in the search for initiatives that boost the competitiveness of our state regarding port services.
