Infrastructure

Organized as a port of business, Portocel boasts comprehensive logistics infrastructure, facilities and equipment integrated to the diverse modes of transport (maritime, long haul, cabotage, railway, highway and pipelines), for the efficient transportation of pulp and eucalyptus, as well as cargo such as granite, salt, steel products and sodium sulfate, among others.

In 2017, investments of R$63 million prepared Portocel for a new growth cycle in 2018, when the terminal completed 40 years of operations. Structural works were carried out for a new pulp warehouse and for renovating the quay and berth structures.

To operate wooden barges, new large cranes were installed in Portocel for unloading wood coming from the Caravelas Maritime Terminal (Bahia). The equipment manufactured in Finland, equipped with cutting-edge technology, resulted in safer, more productive and sustainable operations that meet the demand for barge transportation, which grew 9% in 2017.

Portocel’s Operational System manages all operational processes through remote controllers and local stations that schedule and monitor the mooring of ship, cargo handling, stowage records and inspections. The system is connected to the Integrated Foreign Trade System (Siscomex) and operational records are registered through electronic collection and transmitted to the database in real time.

With annual pulp loading capacity of 7.5 million tons, Portocel offers the following features:
